Meng Zhuangzi 孟莊子 Zhongsun Su 仲孫速

Zhongsun Shu 仲孫速 (died 550 BCE), posthumous title Meng Zhuangzi 孟莊子, also called Meng Ruzi Su 孟孺子速, was a nobleman in the state of Lu 魯 during the Spring and Autumn period 春秋 (770-5th cent. BCE). The family Zhongsun 仲孫 or Mengsun 孟孫 was one of the Three Huan families 三桓 that dominated the state of Lu. He was the son of Zhongsun Mie 仲孫蔑 (Meng Xianzi 孟獻子) and served Duke Xiang 魯襄公 (r. 573-542). From his youth on he was known as a very brave person and often participated in military campaigns. In 553 he led the siege of the statelet of Zhu 邾. After his death the family was headed by his son Jie 羯 (Meng Xiaobo 孟孝伯), while his older brother Ruzi Zhi 孺子秩 (also written {禾+史}) left the state of Lu.
