Gaotang Long 高堂隆 (not Gao Tanglong!), courtesy name Shengping 升平, was an official of the Wei dynasty 曹魏 (220-265) during the Three Kingdoms period 三國 (220-280).
He hailed from Pingyang 平陽 in the commandery of Taishan 泰山 (today Xintai 新泰, Shandong) and was known for his expertise in astrology. He was local inspector (duyou 督郵) of the governor (taishou 太守) of the commandery. When Cao Pi 曹丕 (Emperor Wen 魏文帝, r. 220-226) assumed the imperial title, Gao was made magistrate of the district of Tangyang 堂陽.
Under Emperor Ming 魏明帝 (r. 226－239 CE) he was promoted to the post of governor of the commandery of Chenliu 陳留, and rose later to the post of Cavalier attendant-in-ordinary (sanji changshi 散騎常侍), and was given the title of a Marquis within the Passes (guanneihou 關內侯). During the reconstruction of the imperial palace, Gao advocated a more economical way of spending. Later on he rose to the office of palace attendant (shizhong 侍中), then Grand Astrologer (taishi ling 太史令), and finally Chamberlain for Attendants (guangluxun 光祿勳). Just before he died, he ordered to bury him humbly.
