Guo Yuan 國淵, courtesy name Zini 子尼, was a politician of the very late Eastern Han period 東漢 (25-220 CE).

He came from Gai 蓋 in the commandery of Le'an 樂安 (modern Boxing 博興, Shandong) and was a disciple of the famous Confucian scholar Zheng Xuan 鄭玄. When the central government of the Han disintegrated he joined Bing Yuan 邴原 and Guan Ning 管寧 and fled to Liaodong 遼東. After Cao Cao 曹操 had become the dominating person of the empire, Guo Yuan served as section administrator in the Ministry of Works (sikong yuan 司空掾).

Guo played an important role in the promotion of the internally used system of military agro-colonies (tuntian 屯田) that served to reconstruct the economy of the empire. His engagement proved fully success, and the granaries were replenished for many years. Guo Yuan was therefore highly esteemed by the whole population. When Cao Cao attacked the Guanzhong 關中 region, Guo Yuan remained in the warlord's seat as aide (zhangshi 長史). In this function, he suppressed a rebellion in Hejian 河間. Later on Guo was appointed governor (taishou 太守) of the commandery of Weijun 魏郡, and later promoted to the post of Chamberlain for the Imperial Stud (taipu 太僕).
