Chu Yuanwang 楚元王 Liu Jiao 劉交

Prince Yuan of Chu 楚元王, personal name Liu Jiao 劉交, courtesy name You 游, was a younger brother of Liu Bang 劉邦 (Emperor Gaozu 漢高祖, r. 206-195 BCE), founder of the Han dynasty 漢 (206 BCE-220 CE) .

When his brother adopted the title of emperor in 202 BCE, Liu Jiao was made Prince of Chu 楚. Liu Jiao was known as a person highly interested in literature. He studies the "Book of Songs" Shijing 詩經 with the Confucian Fuqiu Bo 浮丘伯 and compiled a commentary to it, the lost book Yuanwang Shi 元王詩 "[Commentary on the] Songs by Prince Yuan.

Prince Yuan (Yuanwang 元王) is his posthumous title. His son Liu Yinke 劉郢客 succeeded as Prince Yi of Chu 楚夷王. The latter's son Liu Wu 劉戊 belonged to the Seven Princes rebelling against Emperor Jing 漢景帝 (r. 157-141 BCE).
