Wanli yehuo bian 萬曆野獲編 "Gleanings from the Wanli era" is an essay-style book (biji 筆記) written during the late Ming period 明 (1368-1644), specifically, the Wanli reign-period 萬曆 (1573-1619), by Shen Defu 沈德符 (1578-1642), courtesy name Jingqian 景倩 or Huchen 虎臣, from Xiushui 秀水 in the prefecture of Jiaxing 嘉興, Zhejiang. He also wrote the books Qingquantang ji 清權堂集, Bizhouxuan shengyu 敝帚軒剩語, Guqu zayan 顧曲雜言, Feifu yulüe 飛鳬語略 and Qinxi shimo 秦璽始末.

The Yehuobian is 30 juan long, plus a supplement of 4 juan. Shen Defu was a palace official in the Capital and therefore had the opportunity to learn a great deal about contemporary events, which he later developed into a literary work upon retiring to his home in Zhejiang. The book was completed in 1607, and a 12-juan-long sequel (Xubian 續編) was published in 1619. Shen Defu describes everything that was told, in unofficial ways, about the late Ming dynasty and its history. His book is a valuable resource for all aspects of Ming-period history. The Wanli yehuo bian is, moreover, written in an excellent literary style.

<>Only in the very last years of the Ming period was a printing produced with very few copies. During the Kangxi reign-period 康熙 (1662-1722), it was integrated into Zhu Yizun's 朱彝尊 (1629-1709) local gazetteer Rixia jiuwen 日下舊聞, but after revision and a wholly new organisation of the chapters into a more official style. Shen Defu's descendant Shen Zhen 沈振 collected surviving fragments and arranged them in 8 juan. The original shape of the book is thus lost.

During the Daoguang reign-period 道光 (1821-1850) Yao Zu'en 姚祖恩 reprinted the Wanli yehuo bian, based on the print from the Lishanfang Studio 荔山房. This edition was republished as a modern print in 1958 by the Zhonghua Shuju Press 中華書局.
