Gu jingjie huihan 古經解彙函

Gu jingjie huihan 古經解彙函 "Collection of ancient commentaries on the Classics" is a series specialized on early commentaries on the Confucian Classics compiled during the Qing period 清 (1644-1911) by Zhong Qianjun 鍾謙鈞 (1803-1874), courtesy name Yunqing 雲卿. Zhong hailed from Baling 巴陵 (modern Yueyang 岳陽, Hunan) and was salt distribution commissioner (yanyunshi 鹽運使) of Liang-Guang 兩廣.

In the series with a length of 126 juan he assembles 23 texts that were printed during the Song 宋 (960-1279) and Yuan 元 (1279-1368) periods. Such a work had been begun by the scholars Nalan Xingde 納蘭性德 (1655-1685) and Xu Qianxue 徐乾學 (1631-1694) who published the large series Tongzhitang jingjie 通志堂經解 during the Kangxi reign-period 康熙 (1662-1722).

During the early 19th century, Qian Yiji 錢儀吉 (1783-1850), who was teacher in the Daliang Academy 大梁書院, planned to publish a similar series with 41 texts not included in the Tongzhitang jingjie. This was the book Jingyuan 經苑 "Garden of Classics". It includes texts that were written during the Song period or later, while older texts were published by the scholars Ma Guohan 馬國翰 (1794-1857), compiler of the series Yuhanshanfang jiyi shu 玉函山房輯佚書), Huang Shi 黃奭 (1809-1853), who edited Hanxue congshu 漢學叢書), Hong Yixuan 洪頤煊 (1765-1833), editor of Wenjingtang congshu 問經堂叢書) or Ruan Yuan 阮元 (1764-1849) with his famous Huang-Qing jingjie 皇清經解.

Zhong Qianjun himself published a collection of texts on the Classics Yijing 易經 (Zhouyi 周易), Shangshu 尚書, Shijing 詩經 (Maoshi 毛詩), Chunqiu 春秋 and Lunyu 論語. The collection was published in 1873, but the printing quality of many texts is unfortunately not very high. The first print was published in 1873 by the Yuedong Shuju Press 粵東書局. A reprint was published in 1889 by the Xiangnan Shuju Press 湘南書局.
