Guke congchao 古刻叢鈔 is a collection of old inscriptions compiled during the early Ming period 明 (1368-1644) by Tao Zongyi 陶宗儀 (1322-1403), famous for his book Chuogenglu 輟耕錄.
The book of 1 juan presents 72 reproductions of stone inscriptions, mainly from the Tang period 唐 (618-907). The book catalogue Siku quanshu zongmu tiyao 四庫全書總目提要 praises Tao's book as valuable for not merely preserving the titles of inscriptions, but recording the full texts. The book gathers and restores lost writings, filling in the omissions left by scholars of epigraphy. It thus provides benefits for students of history and literature.
