Er Cheng yulu 二程語錄 is a collection of “sayings” of the two brothers 程顥 (1032-1085) and Cheng Yi 程頤 (1033-1107), who were the most important philosophers of early Neo-Confucianism. The collection of 18 juan length was compiled by Zhang Boxing 張伯行 (1651-1725) as based on two books of Zhu Xi 朱熹, in which important teachings of the to Cheng brothers are collected. These were Er Cheng yishu 二程遺書, and Er Cheng waishu 二程外書. Zhang’s collection is thus an excert of the teachings as presented in the to books of Zhu Xi. It is included in the series Zhengyitang quanshu 正誼堂全書 and Guoxue jiben congshu 國學基本叢書.
