Lunyu waipian 論語外篇

Zengding Lunyu waipian 增訂論語外篇 "Revised outer chapters of the Confucian Analects" is a collection of the sayings of Confucius, and a supplement to the Confucian Classic Lunyu 論語 "Confucian Analects".

The book of 4 juan length was compiled in the late Ming period 明 (1368-1644) by Pan Shida 潘士達, courtesy name Zaiwen 在聞, from Wucheng 烏程 (today part of Wuxing 吳興, Zhejiang), who obtained the jinshi degree in 1592, and was assistant educational intendant (tixue qianshi 提學僉事) of the province of Guangdong.

The book is a collections of various statements attributed to and talking about Confucius that are found in other books of antiquity, including the Daoist writings Zhuangzi 莊子 and Liezi 列子. The statements are thematically arranged into 12 chapters, in imitation to the chapters of the Lunyu. Pan's book is actually a revision of a draft collection of sayings compiled by Li Shi 李栻 from Nanchang 南昌, Jiangxi.
