Xu xiaoxue 續小學, with a length of 6 juan, is a continuation of Zhu Xi's 朱熹 (1130-1200) book on education, Xiaoxue 小學 (i.e., Xiaoxue jizhu 小學集注). The continuation was written during the early Qing period 清 (1644-1911) by Ye Zhen 葉鉁 (fl. 1619), style Qianfu 潛夫, from Jiashan 嘉善, Zhejiang.
The book was finished in 1619 and adds information on all aspects of self-education and learning by quoting from Masters from the Song 宋 (960-1279) to the Ming period 明 (1368-1644) and commenting on them. The text is divided into an "inner" and an "outer" part. The chapter Lijiao 立教 is enlarged by an appendix including "Thirty rules for young boys on rites and propriety" (Youtong liyi sanshi ze 幼童禮儀三十則) written by Ye Zhen.
The text is found in the series Xuxiu siku quanshu 續修四庫全書.
