Duxing zashi ZASHI oder ZAZHI? 獨醒雜志 "Miscellaneous records of a man awaking alone" is a biji 筆記 "brush notes" style book written by the early Southern Song period 南宋 (1127-1279) scholar Zeng Minxing 曾敏行 (died 1178), courtesy name Zeng Dachen 曾達臣, style Fuyun jushi 浮雲居士, Duxing daoren 獨醒道人 "Daoist master being alone when awaking", or Guiyu laoren 歸愚老人. He came from Jishui 吉水 in the prefecture of Luling 廬陵 (modern Jishui, Jiangxi) and had to forego with an official career because he had been sick in his youth. He therefore decided to dedicate his life to the study of whatever he could learn. He was also an excellent painter, specializing on grass and insects. The 10 juan "scrolls" long book is the collection of all the notes he wrote down during his studies. It was published by his son Zeng Sanpin 曾三聘, and a preface was written by the poet Yang Wanli 楊萬里. The content includes a lot of historiographical material and can therefore be used as an additional source to the history of the Song dynasty.
The Duxing zazhi is included in the reprint series Siku quanshu 四庫全書, Zhibuzuzhai congshu 知不足齋叢書, Biji xiaoshuo daguan 筆記小說大觀 and Congshu jicheng chubian 叢書集成初編.
