Qinqu jicheng 琴曲集成

Qinqu jicheng 琴曲集成 is a series of collectanea (congshu 叢書) of books on tunes for the zither. It was compiled between 1960 and 2010 and has a total length of 30 volumes, covering 142 writings from the Southern Dynasties period 南朝 (420-589) to the Republican era (1912-1949).

The collection was compiled by the Beijing Research Society on the Ancient Zither (Beijing Guqin Yanjiuhui 北京古琴研究會) and the of the Music School of the Chinese National Academy of Arts (Zhongguo Yishu Yanjiusuo Yinyue Yanjiusuo 中國藝術研究院音樂研究所). The project started in 1956, when the Ministry of Culture of the PRC (Zhonghua Renmin Gonghehuo Wenhuabu 中華人民共和國文化部) and the China Musicians' Association (Zhongguo Yinyuejia Xiehui 中國音樂家協會) sent out Zha Fuxi 查阜西 (1895-1978) and Wu Zhao 吳釗 (b. 1935) to collect ancient writings in the possession of expert zither players. Until 1960, they had collected no less than 260 different tunes recorded in old books. The first volume was published a year later, but the project came to a halt when the Cultural Revolution erupted.

It was resumed in 1980. Until 1994, sixteen volumes were published. The second half of the series was presented to the public in 2010, as part of a new, revised edition of 30 volumes, published by the Zhonghua Shuju 中華書局.
