Chasheng 茶乘 is a book on tea written during the Ming period 明 (1368-1644) by Gao Yuanjun 高元濬 (early 17th cent.), of whose life nothing is known.
The book of 4 juan length and an appendix of two chapters is listed in the private book catalogues Xushi jiacong shumu 徐氏家藏書目 and Qianqingtang shumu 千頃堂書目, but in the latter with a length of 9 juan.
The first fascicle of the book describes in detail the origins of tea, places of production, plucking, storage and preparation methods, qualities of water, various tea tools and issues to be respected and such to be avoided. The rest of the book quotes from older literature, prose, and poetry.
