Loukejing 漏刻經

Loukejing 漏刻經 is a brief text on the water clock (louke 漏刻) included in the series Shuofu 說郛 (Wanwei Shantang 宛委山堂 edition).The name of the author and the date of compilation is unknown.

The bibliographical chapter Jingji zhi 經籍志 in the official dynastic history Suishu 隋書 lists several books with the title, written by He Chengtian 何承天 (370-447), Yang Wei 楊偉, Huo Rong 霍融 (2nd cent.), Zu Geng 祖暅 (456-536), Zhu Shi 朱史 (c. 500), and Song Jing 宋景 (6th cent.), respectively. Whether the Shuofu text corresponds to any of these books cannot be known.

The transmitted Loukejing begins with a general introduction (Loukejing), and then describes the basin (Zaoyufa 造盂法), the dripping mechanism (Xialoufa 下漏法), the calculation method (Zaochoufa 造籌法), and corrections (Jiajianfa 加減法).
