Shancanshuo 山蠶說 is a text on silk production from the cocoon of the wild silkmoth (Antheraea pernyi). It is part of Sun Tingquan's 孫廷銓 (1613-1674) report Nanzheng jilüe 南征紀略. The author, Sun Tingquan, courtesy name Bodu 伯度, style Zhiting 趾亭, hailed from Yidu 益都 (part of today's Zibo 淄博, Shandong) and was in 1651 entrusted with an official mission to southern China. His Nanzheng jilüe is a kind of diary. The chapter Shancanshuo was published separately and with this specific title, which does not occur in Sun's original text in the Nanzheng jilüe.
