Yuexuelou shuhua lu 嶽雪樓書畫錄

Yuexuelou shuhua lu 嶽雪樓書畫錄 "Calligraphies and paintings from Mountain-Snow Pavilion" is a book on calligraphy and painting written during the late Qing period 清 (1644-1911) by Kong Guangyong 孔廣鏞, style Huaimin 懷民, and his brother Kong Guangtao 孔廣陶, courtesy name Hongchang 鴻昌, style Shaotang Jushu 少唐居士, from Nanhai 南海, Guangdong.

The book of 5 juan length was completed in 1861. The compilation format refers to Sun Chengze's 孫承澤 (1592-1676) Gengzi xiaoxia ji 庚子銷夏記 and Gao Shiqi's 高士奇 (1645-1703) Jiangcun xiaoxia lu 江村銷夏錄. The calligraphy and painting works assembled and described in the book are also quite exquisite and extant authentic works of high quality.

The book records, in chronological order, the material, format, dimensions, and collector seals of calligraphic works, with smaller characters after the main text noting later inscriptions and seals. The paintings are similarly documented with their material, format, dimensions, and collector seals, along with descriptions and critiques of the painting content. Collector seals are also individually listed by their shapes. After the seals, inscriptions from various periods are included, and some works even have inscriptions by the artists themselves.

As a catalogue of calligraphy and painting, its value lies in recording works owned by the editors themselves, and a considerable number of these masterpieces have been passed down to the present day, providing strong evidence for the book’s authenticity and reliability. Moreover, the book's documentation work is relatively meticulous, containing both records and evaluations. It not only preserves all earlier inscriptions and seals but also includes inscriptions personally written by the authors for each piece—this format is rare among catalogues.

The main editions include the family-published edition from 1861, and the edition printed by the Sanshiyousanwanjuan Studio 三十有三萬卷堂 of the Kong family of Nanhai in 1889.
