Zhushayu pu 硃砂魚譜 (also written 朱砂魚譜) is a book on goldfish written during the late Ming period 明 (1368-1644) by Zhang Qiande 張謙德 (1577-1643), courtesy name Shuyi 叔益, Chou 丑 or Qingfu 青父, style Mi'an 米庵, from Kunshan 崑山, Jiangsu.
His brief book, finished in 1596, is divided into two chapters. The first part describes various kinds of goldfish based on ten criteria of analysis. The second part follows the same pattern and recommends ten points for raising and reproduction.
Zhang's book provides detailed instructions for aficionados and very practical information for breeding excellent, beautiful animals with various colouring, such as white bodies with red marks on the head, bicoloured animals with red front and white back or red left side and white ride side, or types with different shadings of red, namely cinnabar, chrysanthemum, cherry blossoms, amber, gold, or silver.
