There are two books with the title Kuoyizhi 括異志 "Inclusive reports about strange matters", one written by Lu Yinglong 魯應龍, and one by Zhang Shizheng 張師正, both living during the Song period 宋 (960-1279). Zhang's book is called Kuoyizhi 括異志, while that of Lu Yinglong is commonly called Xianchuang kuoyi zhi 閒窗括異志 "Inclusive records of strange matters from the leisure window".
Lu Yinglong 魯應龍 (fl. 1247) came from Jiaxing 嘉興 (modern Jiaxing, Zhejiang) and was a retainer of a certain Master Shen 沈氏 during the Chunyou reign 淳祐 (1241-1252). His Kuoyizhi belongs to the old-style collections of ghost stories that were popular through the history of Chinese literature. It includes mainly stories of retributions of sins in an earlier life, the first part written by author himself as a result of his own experience and hearsay, while the second part is a quotation of older stories, a lot of which are also to be found in other collections. The Xianchuang kuoyizhi is included in the reprint series Guang baichuan xuehai 廣百川學海, Shuofu 說郛, Wuchao xiaoshuo 五朝小說 and Congshu jicheng chubian 叢書集成初編.
