Shiyou tanji 師友談記 "Discussions with teachers and friends", full title Jinan xiansheng shiyou tanji 濟南先生師友談記, is a "brush-notes"-style book (biji 筆記) compiled during the Northern Song period 北宋 (960-1126) by Li Zhi 李廌 (1059-1109), who has also written the painting critique Deyuzhai huapin 德隅齋畫品.
He was befriended to the writers and thinkers Su Shi 蘇軾 (1037-1101), Fan Zuyu 范祖禹 (1041-1098), Huang Tingjian 黃庭堅 (1045-1105), Qin Guan 秦觀 (1049-1100), Chao Yuezhi 晁說之 (1059-1129) and Zhang Lei 張耒 (1054-1114) and used to discuss with them. The content of these conversions is laid down in his short book that was written during the Yuanyou reign-period 元祐 (1086-1093) of Emperor Zhezong 宋哲宗 (r. 1085-1100). The Shiyou tanji is interesting because it brings together the voices of so many famous scholars and shows that Li Jian was not inferior to them. Most themes center on the investigation of fundamental matters (ge 格), especially in the discussions with Su Shi. The least excellent paragraph is the chapter in which Qin Guan talks about rhapsodies 賦.
The Shiyou tanji is included in the series Siku quanshu 四庫全書, Baichuan xuehai 百川學海, Xuejin taoyuan 學津討原, Shuofu 說郛 and Congshu jicheng chubian 叢書集成初編.
