Jingkang xiangsu zaji 靖康緗素雜記 "Miscellaneous notes on coarse paper from the Jingkang reign-period", briefly called Xiangsu zaji 緗素雜記, is a "brush-notes"-style book (biji 筆記) written during the late Northern Song period 北宋 (960-1126) by Huang Chaoying 黃朝英 from Jianzhou 建州 (today's Jian'ou 建甌, Fujian). Nothing is known about his life apart from that he lived in the late 11th and the early 12th centuries.
His book of 10 juan length assembles notes on the Classics, history books, economy, techniques, botanics and medicine, with a number of about 90 brief chapters.
Yuan Wen's 袁文 (early 12th cent.) Yongyou xianping 甕牖閑評 and Wang Mao's 王楙 (1151-1213) Yeke congshu 野客叢書 provide corrections to Huang's book. Chao Gongwu's 晁公武 (c. 1105-1180) book catalogue Junzhai dushu zhi 郡齋讀書志 criticises it as belonging to the school of Wang Anshi 王安石 (1021-1086) and specifically rebukes Huang's interpretation of a specific poem phrase (shaoyao wo jiao 芍藥握椒). Liu Chang 劉敞 (1019-1068), in his Qijing xiaozhuan 七經小傳, also picks up this point for ridicule and to discredit Huang Chaoying. This kind of critique reflects the disputes of various court factions concerning Wang Anshi's New Policy. The authors of the descriptive catalogue Siku quanshu zongmu tiyao 四庫全書總目提要 likewise note Huang's reverence for Wang Anshi. However, aside from the questionable interpretation of Wang's poem, most of Huang's explanations are well-supported with detailed references and useful for textual research.
The text is found in the series Siku quanshu 四庫全書, Baoyantang miji 寶顏堂秘笈, Mohai jinhu 墨海金壺, Shoushange congshu 守山閣叢書, Congshu jicheng chubian 叢書集成初編, Xuehai leibian 學海類編, Tang-Song congshu 唐宋叢書 and Shuofu 說郛 (in excerpts). In 1986, the Shanghai Guji Press 上海古籍出版社 published a modern edition with commentaries by Wu Qiming 吳企明.
